LAS VEGAS (July 22, 2017) – The Las Vegas Bowl and National Youth Sports (NYS) Nevada are teaming up starting this season.
Las Vegas Bowl Executive Director John Saccenti and NYS Nevada co-owner Justin Phelps made the announcement Saturday during an NYS football coaches’ clinic held at Liberty High School.
Under the partnership, more than 5,000 players ages 3-15 in Southern Nevada will have Las Vegas Bowl stickers on the back of their helmets. The bowl will support the group’s efforts by bringing in the championship teams from all nine age divisions and recognizing them on the field during game day, December 16.
“The Las Vegas Bowl has a long history of supporting youth football in our city and this is another great example of that commitment,” said Saccenti. “We are not just a December event but a proud member of this community that wants to promote good sportsmanship and player safety on the field at every level all year long. NYS Nevada is a perfect partner for us.”
In addition to hosting the winning squads, discounted tickets will be offered to the families of all NYS Nevada athletes and one lucky family will win a special Las Vegas Bowl VIP Experience.
“It’s exciting to be teaming up with the Las Vegas Bowl to give our young student-athletes the opportunity to attend the game,” said Phelps. “It will give them a chance to see up-close and personal that hard work in the classroom and on the football field pays off. This partnership will have a positive lasting impact in the Las Vegas community for years to come.”
The 26th Las Vegas Bowl will be played Saturday, Dec. 16, at 12:30 p.m. PT at Sam Boyd Stadium. The game will feature the top choice from the Mountain West against a pick from the Pac-12 Conference.
