Annual Ticket Kickoff Luncheon
The annual Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Ticket Kickoff Luncheon was held Sept. 18, 2014 at a new site, Vinyl Las Vegas inside the Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas, and drew a big crowd of local business leaders and supporters.
Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Executive Director John Saccenti reminded the crowd that the bowl is more than just a game.
"We're here to talk about civic and community pride and getting some new faces involved in the game," he said. "We're here to talk about the love we have for college football. There are just 31 communities that have the privilege of hosting a college football bowl game and we want to be the best at it here in Las Vegas, a city that is great at welcoming the world."
Hosted by local radio personality Chet Buchanan, the event also featured Randy Fisher from second-year title sponsor Royal Purple as well as special guest speaker and longtime ESPN announcer Rod Gilmore.
"I got to play in one bowl game during my career at Stanford and for me and all of our guys, that became an experience we can share forever," Gilmore said. "Going to a bowl game is unique and it's something they can never take away from you. The importance that a bowl trip has on an 18-19 year old is amazing. The bowl I played in (Bluebonnet in Houston) was taken for granted and it went away after a lack of support lcoally. The bowl here is so important and critical for this community. I want you to understand what a treasure you have here."
The 2015 Ticket Kickoff Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd and looks to be even more successful than 2014.
Tickets will be on sale beginning June 1st and, depending on location, are priced at $25, $35, $45, $65, $75 and $110 until prices increase by $10 each on Dec. 1.
