Carey And Carr Honored For Their Field Work
LAS VEGAS (Nov. 27, 2013) – The Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl continues its third season of conducting weekly Facebook player-of-the-week polls, driven by fan votes, recognizing exemplary on-field play within the two Bowl affiliated conferences, the Pac-12 and Mountain West.
The SEVEN Magazine Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Pac-12 and Mountain West Player of the Week for week 13 are:
SEVEN Magazine Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Pac-12 Player
of the Week
Ka’Deem Carey, Junior, Running Back, Arizona (Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro HS)
Carey picks up his third SEVEN Magazine Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Pac-12 Player of the Week this season after rushing for 206 yards and four touchdowns on a school-record 48 carries in Arizona’s 42-16 upset victory over Oregon. His 48 carries were the most this season by an FBS player. During the game against the Ducks, he became the all-time leading rusher at Arizona with 3,913 yards and his four scores pushed his career TD tally to 49, which also broke a Wildcat record. This is Carey’s sixth career #RPLVbowl Player of the Week honor (three in 2012 and three in 2013).
SEVEN Magazine Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Mountain West
Player of the Week
Derek Carr, Senior, Quarterback, Fresno State (Bakersfield, CA/Bakersfield Christian)
Carr picks up his fourth SEVEN Magazine Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Mountain West Player of the Week after going 27-of-37 for 522 yards and a school-record seven touchdowns in Fresno State’s 69-28 win over New Mexico. He also added 26 rushing yards and finished with 548 yards of total offense, which ranks the third most in Mountain West history. His 522 passing yards set a MW senior class record and was only 15 yards shy of his single-game school record he set as a junior. This is Carr's seventh career #RPLVbowl Player of the week honor (three in 2012 and four in 2013) and it is the ninth time that a Bulldog has been voted the MW winner this season.
Each week, players from both the Pac-12 and Mountain West conferences will be selected for nomination and then posted for voting. All college football fans are welcome to cast their vote starting on Monday each week for Player of the Week at www.facebook.com/lvbowl.
