Denker Named Pac-12 Player of the Week and Harper Tabbed Mountain West Player of the Week

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 6, 2013)- The Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl continues its third season of conducting weekly Facebook player-of-the-week polls, driven by fan votes, recognizing exemplary on-field play within the two Bowl affiliated conferences, the Pac-12 and Mountain West.

The SEVEN Magazine Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Pac-12 and Mountain West Player of the Week for week 10 are:

B.J. Denker, Senior, Quarterback, Arizona (Torrance, CA/North HS/Cerritos College)
A first time winner, Denker was 24-of-38 for 261 yards and one touchdown and added 44 yards on 15 carries and three more scores in the Wildcats’ 33-28 victory over California. His three rushing touchdowns pushes his season tally to 11, which sets a new modern day school record for rushing scores by a quarterback. Denker joins Ka’Deem Carey as the only players from Arizona to earn SEVEN Magazine Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Pac-12 Player of the Week honors this season. It is also the third consecutive week that a Wildcat has earned the honor.

Josh Harper, Junior, Wide Receiver, Fresno State (Stockton, CA/St. Mary’s HS)
Harper picks up his second career Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Mountain West Player of the Week honor after catching a school-record 17 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns in Fresno State’s 41-23 win over Nevada. His 253 yards receiving were the third-most in program history. His first score came with 35 seconds left in the first half when he caught a 17-yard pass from QB Derek Carr. The two hooked up again in the early stages of the fourth stanza for a 32-yard score. Harper was also voted the #RPLVB Mountain West Player of the Week on October 2.

Each week, players from both the Pac-12 and Mountain West conferences will be selected for nomination and then posted for voting. All college football fans are welcome to cast their vote starting on Monday each week for Player of the Week at www.facebook.com/lvbowl.
