Record Ratings For MAACO Bowl Las Vegas

Boise State\'s win is highest rated ERT bowl game telecast ever

LAS VEGAS - The numbers are in, and Wednesday night's MAACO Bowl Las Vegas was the highest-rated ESPN Regional Television (ERT) bowl game telecast in history, ESPN announced.

Tenth-ranked Boise State's 26-3 victory over No. 19 Utah was the event's sixth consecutive sellout and the crowd of 41,923 was the second-biggest in the bowl's history and third-largest in Sam Boyd Stadium history. The matchup was equally popular nationally as it earned an average rating of 3.78 on ESPN. The previous high for an ERT bowl game was 3.03 for the Dec. 24, 2008, Sheraton Hawaii Bowl featuring Notre Dame against host Hawaii. Last year's MAACO Bowl Las Vegas earned a 2.58 rating for a game between BYU and Oregon State.

ERT, based in Charlotte, N.C., owns and produces the following bowl games: Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl St. Petersburg, BBVA Compass Bowl, New Mexico Bowl, MAACO Bowl Las Vegas, Bell Helicopters Armed Forces Bowl, Sheraton Hawaiʻi Bowl and starting this season, the Texas Bowl.

''This is a tribute to the two teams we featured in the world-class setting of Las Vegas,'' said Executive Director Tina Kunzer-Murphy. ''A lot of people worked really hard to get the right matchup and put on a great show for all of the fans in the stadium and for everyone watching at home.''
