ESPN Commentator Herm Edwards To Headline Luncheon

Fans can buy tickets now by phone for annual gathering of teams.

LAS VEGAS - Former NFL player and head coach and current ESPN commentator Herm Edwards will be the featured speaker at the annual MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Kickoff Luncheon on Tuesday, Dec. 21, the bowl announced today.

Fans can buy their tickets to the luncheon for $50 apiece by calling (702) 732-3912. The event begins at noon at the Las Vegas Convention Center (S219-223) and includes appearances by the players, coaches, bands and cheerleaders of both teams competing in the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas. In the most-anticipated matchup in the game's history, 10th-ranked Boise State will take on 19th-ranked Utah the following night at Sam Boyd Stadium.

Edwards joined ESPN in March 2009 as an NFL studio analyst, and primarily appears on NFL Live, SportsCenter, ESPNEWS and ESPN Radio. In 2010, he added ESPN's SEC college football schedule to his resume. Edwards spent eight years as an NFL head coach for the New York Jets (2001-05) and the Kansas City Chiefs (2006-08). He led his teams to four playoff appearances, including 2004 when his Jets squad finished with a 10-6 regular season record and advanced to the AFC Divisional Playoffs. Edwards, is one of only four NFL coaches to lead two different teams to the playoffs in his first season as head coach with those teams.

Edwards played defensive back for 10 NFL seasons (1977-86), mostly for the Philadelphia Eagles where he recorded 38 career interceptions. He was a member of the Eagles' Super Bowl team in 1980 and is also known for recovering the fumble by Giants quarterback Joe Pisarcik ? and returning it for a game-winning 26-yard touchdown ? on a play dubbed ''The Miracle at the Meadowlands,'' during the closing seconds of the Eagles-Giants game on Nov. 19, 1978.

The MAACO Bowl Las Vegas, which is owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television (ERT), will be televised nationally on ESPN HD.
