John Saccenti Named Executive Director Of Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl

ESPN has named John Saccenti as the executive director of the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl. Saccenti (pronounced sah-SENT-ee) has been working on the bowl staff since 2001, leading the event’s sales efforts in the market.

A 1998 graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Saccenti began his professional career with the local minor league baseball team (AAA Las Vegas Stars) and hockey team (IHL Las Vegas Thunder) before becoming the marketing manager for the XFL’s Las Vegas Outlaws. He joined ESPN Regional Television, a subsidiary of ESPN, (now ESPN Events) in 2001 and most recently held the title of senior manager event sponsorship and marketing/associate executive director Las Vegas Bowl.

“I’m truly grateful for and excited about this opportunity,” said Saccenti. “Our bowl game has become one of Las Vegas’ premier events each year and I look forward to keeping the momentum going as we move forward with a great title sponsor in Royal Purple and two ideal conference partners.”

The 2014 Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl will be played Saturday, Dec. 20 at 12:30 p.m. PT at Sam Boyd Stadium. The 23rd edition will be televised nationally on ABC, featuring the top choice from the Mountain West against the sixth pick from the Pac-12 Conference. Last year’s RPLVB saw No. 25 (BCS) USC defeat No. 20 Fresno State 45-20 in front of 42,178 fans, which marked the second-largest crowd in RPLVB, stadium and state history. It was also the seventh sellout in the last nine years.

Tickets ($25, $35, $45, $65, $75 and $110) go on sale to the general public August 25 and will increase by $10 each on December 7. For more information call (702) 732-3912.
